This old pot decided it wasn't pretty enough and mosaiced itself. Perhaps a few more tiles? Nope, this is the perfect look.

Women's Museum, sculptures in the garden during the State Fair

Women's Museum. I went to meet Kronda there today. Rebecca suggested my pieces in Kronda's garden because during the Fair and I think a while after the museum features Girls That Rock Music Festival.

Kronda was asking me about the guitar/keyboard totem footprint in the garden, because she and her crew were ready to plant. I suggested I go get the totem and install so they could plant around it. OK. Brought my camera, but it stayed in my pocket. Then she showed me where she's going to put the guitar/keyboard sculpture. Right in front of the fountain in front of the museum.

Tic Tac Heart

Hearts and rusty metal. The heart inside the tic tac toe is a piece of granite. Chris gave me the cut outs from bathroom sinks. I used most of the cutouts to pave my welding area. Fanciest paving in Old East Dallas and doesn't burn when I throw sparks with the welder. I decided to cut one piece into a heart, weld a tic tac toe and put the heart in the center. Kinda cute. Sold it during the studio tour. Made the one pictured for me then sold it at the garden tour. Like with every piece I make, I decide to keep if for myself. Then I have nothing to put in a show, so there they go. The next one I make for my garden will bring out all the little romantic creatures who live in the back yard and I will not sell it.

Pam, Ronnie and Succulents

Pam and Ronnie and Dan's succulents rule. I wish I had pictures of Pam in the sunlight in her fabulous outfit, jewelry, those shoes, hair and makeup. Ronnie not too bad either. Enjoy the succulents, you A Succulent Life readers. Dan's garden is a heaven for all succulents who want to be stars.

Gardens and Weddings

Evil spirits are captured in this empty wine bottle holder. Only in California would a bottle tree be a wine bottle holder. I'm not sure I explained to Dan the reason he has no evil spirits in his house is because they are all living in the bottles. May we all have bottle trees of any fashion. And this little pot of succulents, like a little family living together, well, a family that gets along in small spaces. Really a little garden in a pot.

Is this little metal stand with a piece of granite on top perfect for this plant in the house? Who'd have thought?


Ronnie, Justin and you can barely see Pam, at the alter. I wish I had a really good picture of Pam in this fabulous outfit looking fabulous. The material, color, jewelry, shoes, makeup hair - she had it all, my little butterfly.

Dan's Garden and Chagalls

Here you see Dan's garden "artscapes" again. I love this little falling succulent, then the sharp thorns on the other plant along with one pink bloom. The Malibu climate helps, but it took some talent to put these "artscapes" together. The big blue vase with the branches remind me of the Walking Stick plant.

Speaking of art, how about the wonderful Chagalls at the wedding party house? I'll be honest, they're lovely, but I prefer the Dan Artscapes, indoor and outdoor, smiling back at me.

Bowling in the Garden

Unseasonably warm weather created the unique "perfect storm" for mosaic bowling balls. The balls crashed around the back yard simultaneously creating havoc with the stationary non-mosaic balls. The mosaic balls rammed and slammed into the unsuspecting naked balls reducing them to tears as they huddled between bare root plants. One lone bowling pin stood up to the balls only to be crushed beneath the weight of cheap china parts. No tears were shed for the rogue balls or the coward balls still hiding.

BlackJack will be out first thing in the morning to mark the winner.

Continuing White Rock Tour pics

This is my darling Mel, who has just come home from a grand adventure to be back with his family.  What would my first time on the tour be without him coming by?  He had Dana with him and she was looking really healthy (we worry about her health).  She's feeling so much better.  I don't know why she's not in the picture with Mel.  They left us and went on to the State Fair of Texas to enjoy the last day.  Mel said they (especially Dana) spent the day eating Fair food.

White Rock Lake Artists Studio Tour - more pics

The first picture is of my rock fountain.  You can't tell from the picture, but I'm so impressed.  I made it 3 days before the tour and the water is still going.  Bart drilled a hole in a big rock I gave him, but I couldn't figure out how to use it.  Now I know I can make another fountain and use the rock Bart drilled the hole in.  Thank you Bart.  Second picture is of Lorie and people wandering around the back yard.  I'm pretending the back yard looks like there's a neat garden there.  Lorie kept rearranging my rock fountain (and the rest of the back yard).  She put in a little heart I'd cut out of a piece of granite in the rock fountain.  I thought it didn't look good there.  Next people who walked in commented favorably about the heart.  Of course!  Lorie and Ms. Stearns love that.  The two ladies in the last picture were so delightful and elegant.  They made me feel like all the hard work getting ready for the tour was worth it so they could come by and enjoy.  You just know they make people smile when they grace them with their presence.

Today was takeout for the State Fair.  I took some pictures, but I can't find my camera.  Here's some continuing Tour pictures.  Top picture is Lynn and Cissy.  I know Cissy doesn't understand why I continue to misspell her name.  I must tell her someday I have a friend who's real name is Cissy.  My other Cissy couldn't decide on a name for her daughter, so on the daughter's birth certificate the name is No Name.  We call her Noni.  I've always thought I'm the same size as (pictured) Cissy and want her clothes.  Finally, Lynn and Cissy convinced me we're not the same size.  I'm wondering where that puts me on Cissy's list of who gets her clothes.  Of course you remember my dear Lynne, my "good" son's godmother.   Next picture - the purple girls.  That's Kate, one of my most amazing artists at the Fair.  Last picture, Janice and Kathy.  I have a year to work on them for the Fair next year.  

I must tell you for once our back yard looked nice.  After 15 years finally got it cleaned up a bit.  I can squint and pretend it's a lovely garden, with art mixed in.  Course you do have to squint.

Hardy's State Fair installation photos

Professional photographer, videographer, seriously creative person and Bob's and my dear friend came out and took pictures of the State Fair of Texas Fabulous Outdoor Sculpture Show installation.  He just sent me 3 pictures and is going to put the rest on a disk.  What a guy.  Maybe he will put part of the video on my blog and even u-tube.  Have I ever looked grubbier than I did that night?  Yeah, maybe when I was cutting slate out front for my sidewalk and the slate turns to mud when you use the saw.  Then I turned to mud.  But I digress - don't I always?  As soon as I get Hardy's disk I'll start posting his pictures, too.  Here's the 3 he sent.  Tho the pictures are great they really can't capture how much fun, how much energy and what a really incredible night it was.  To all of you who were there, I'll never forget it and hope it was special for you, too.

First picture is Virginia and her darling husband, Jim.  Good thing Jim's brother wasn't in the picture.  I would not have been able to tell them apart in a picture.  Guess I would have said, Virginia, Jim and the brother.  Next is Vet working on Baby Orca.  This is such a great piece, so inventive and Vet's great.  Virginia and I are thinking of taking her purse making class.  Third picture is Marty in the middle and I don't have a clue who's back of heads we're looking at.  Whoever you are - you're just unrecognizable from the back, sorry.  Does Marty look ready for action or what?  

Today I had lunch with My Darling Martha Dawn in old town Carrollton.  We walked around some shops and I bought Marty's Richard a little tiny teeny rooster at an antique shop.  They had several farm animals.  The odd part is I collected these little tiny teeny animals as a kid.  Don't have a clue whatever happened to them.  I'll be afraid to put the rooster in Richard's big hand.  It will get lost.  But his Rudy's Totem is so special, he needed another rooster.
