It's All About Larry/Randy

It's all about Larry/Randy. I've told you about the name confusion with Randy/Larry or Larry/Randy, but I haven't mentioned what a great guy he is. One of my best days was meeting Randy at the State Fair of Texas to ride the Skyway he'd just put in. We ran into Leslye and Lorie and all rode together. Then Lorie got a great picture of me in Bob's museum fountain garden. I'm standing in the garden pointing like Vanna White to my mosaic sculptures when the sprinklers come on and she caught exactly that. I love that garden. Only problem is it's so big with the museum flags flying above you can't get all of it in one picture. Course I think they should rename it "Bob's Fountain @ the State Fair of Texas". I'll start a write in.

Lorie and Leslie didn't attend our Christmas party this year and I haven't talked to her to find out why. Anyway, after the Fair, Bob and I took Randy/Larry to Patricios for Italian and had a great lunch. I know, all that food at the Fair and we go out, but hey, it's Patricios and we always take out of towners there.

Here's some pictures of Randy/Larry in our booth at the IAAPA trade show. First picture has Lars' friend Paul in it. He's an interesting guy. More about him later. This is all about Randy/Larry who was so instrumental in getting the Skyway to the State Fair of Texas. Hopefully Bob and Larry will be involved in more projects. Seems like we are around friends more when Bob's doing business with them.

Lots of State Fair pictures

Jeff from Modern Dallas posted a lot of pictures from the sculpture show at the State Fair, but not all.  Artists feelings were hurt and I was told about it and felt terrible.  I was so low I asked Wonderful Wonderful Jeff to please post all.  He's going to.  He saved me.  I know you can't please everyone all the time, but WOW I've had some missteps with this show.  Hopefully learned from it.  90% of the artists have been so happy with everything and they continue words of encouragement.  Guess 100% is too much to ask for.

State Fair of Texas Artists are installed

Cissy sent this phono of installation at the Fair.  Hardy took a bunch, but I don't have them yet.  He also brought his video camera.  We will be on utube soon.  The installation was terrific.  Everyone was glad to see each other, so complimentary of each other's work.  Everyone helped everyone else install and that wasn't always easy.  We had fork lifts, but no crew.  There was so much great energy.  Can't wait for you to see the great pictures.

State Fair of Texas Art Show

Here we go.  Sissy, Lynn and Andrew working on their totem for this year's State Fair of Texas art show.  The theme for this year's Fair is the 5 senses and this piece they are working on is touch ( a big thumb).  I hope to give you pictures in progress of this wonderful totem.  

At last count I had 26 totem artists and 24 sculpture artists.  That's not an accurate count for the pieces since some artists are doing totems and sculpture pieces.  

Today I rode with Rusty and Rebecca while we looked at sites.  The totem garden will be in front of the lagoon with "sculptor's way" going from there to the museum walk through fountain Bob designed.  

I'm hoping this show will be spectacular, but most important to prove it's success, pieces sell.

The State Fair starts September 26.  We are in countdown.

Garden Club Field Trip @ Robert Bellamy's

Barb arranged for the Garden Club to go on a field trip to Robert Bellamy's wonderful garden. I've been on his web site and knew I'd love it, but before we went in I was delighted. Barb had a clicker and opened the big metal gate. Then it was mecca for me. This picture is a window of a metal piece with fused glass inside. I'll have more pictures soon.

Since I'm still afraid of the welding torch when I'm home alone, I decided to take a beginner class with Dan at the Creative Art's Center. There was this wonderful girl there. She was very pretty, blond with a pink feather in her hair and rhinestone drop earrings. Her dark welding glasses had rhinestones all over them. I told her I loved them and she said she made them. OK! This is someone I instantly liked. Unfortunatley, this was a makeup class for her, she isn't enrolled in my session.

When class was over we finally introduced ourselves. I slur my name so I always spell it. She spelled her's Staci "with an i". What a shame I wouldn't be seeing her again.

As our garden club field trip was wrapping up, Barb said, "Come with me to the office, Staci, with an I, wants to say hello. Small world! Staci looked fabulous with all her bling and gave us a back tour and her card. I'm trying to get her to volunteer for the White Rock East Garden Tour, May 18th, Sunday from 11:00 to 5:00. If she's in town she said she would. Everyone will love her and she'll have a great time.
