This tree can not be in Dallas, Texas. I haven't seen a tree smile since before the 100 degree days.

Garden Tour and State Fair artists

Today the Discovery Garden's administrator at Fair Park, Melissa, gave me a tour of the Butterfly House and offered the facility for more places for sculptures during the State Fair of Texas. Several of our Garden Tour artists are also my State Fair artists. What a great time for you to get a preview of their work.

Look for sisters Elizabeth Bingham and Lynn Reagan, Cynthia Daniel, Andie Comini and our tour art czar Betsy Doan in the gardens during the tour. Me, too, if I can inspire my welder to get moving. I'll post which garden each artist will be showing in when we get closer to tour time.

Uptown

It's amazing to me that the area where we had Bob's old office is now "Uptown". Back in the day it was just coming out of grungy. Bob had to go to Agel for art supplies today. I talked him into waiting until after I slurried my hearts on my State Fair pieces so I could go with him. I love any form of cement.

Agel's always a several hundred dollar trip, so I may as well go along and get a few goodies.

After, we were looking for a late lunch place. Why bother discussing? Let's go to our old time favorite seafood place S & D Oyster. Bob and I love how the place never changes. I love how S & D looks like every upscale restaurant of my youth in New Iberia, New Orleans and surrounding cities. Talk about comfort food and comfort place. Delicious as usual.

Pretty Gardens

Happened to be in the Preston Hollow area of town last week and had my camera. Stopped to take a picture of the this house's beautiful landscaping. Both pictures are of same house. I wonder if they do "Yard Of The Month" like we do here in Forest Hills?

Hello East Dallas Art Gardens

What am I doing starting a blog about gardens with art in East Dallas?  Art in the garden is where I want to be now.  This welded steel and fused glass "butterfly leaf" I made last fall for display at the State Fair of Texas is now on display at the Dallas Arboretum.  The Texas Sculpture Association is celebrating it's 25th anniversary and the board was asked to find venues for the members to show this year.  I asked the Arboretum if they would allow us to come in and display our art.  My wonderful Partner In Art, Cynthia and I got it together and with the help of Nan Phillips, the President and Brenda Guyton, our webmaster.  Brenda sent out a "call to artists" and we installed  twenty TSA artists and their sculptures Saturday and Sunday March 1st and 2nd.  The art is on a pathway leading to the old main gate and looks incredible in the Arboretum gardens.  I'm hoping the Arboretum,  www.dallasarboretum.org/ will spotlight us in future publicity.  We will be there six weeks and then begin another rotation.  Check out the www.txssculpture.com website for pictures of all the pieces and my website, www.lottieminick.com for more of my pieces.
