Artspark, tomorrow at Northpark

Artspark tomorrow at Northpark, and your Texas Sculpture Association
board members will be manning a table spreading the word. Our leader, President Elect, Cassandra Fink, has really gotten a great show together. She's rounded up pieces from members to auction, brochures, a video and of course us working. Come out and see us. We'll be signing up new members - could be you.
Here's an incredible piece from a prominent board member, Brad Abrams. His ducks are on display at the State Fair of Texas Friends of Lottie Sculpture show right now. His ducks along with all the other sculptures are for sale for anyone with $$$. If you're a fused glass artists and need fiber paper, Brad has some for sale at incredible prices.
Check out the sculpture show at the Fair on my website: www.lottieminick.com

January Texas Sculpture Association Board Meeting

Here's the Texas Sculpture Association Board meeting the first time this year. Cynthia and I drive to Oklahoma once a month to attend. Actually Nan's house is up Central Expressway at the Arapaho exit, but I think it's Oklahoma, because it's so far out of my 5 mile comfort zone. Cynthia's better about the drive than me. Thank goodness Bob drives us to Fort Worth every Saturday night while I play with his i-phone and pretend we aren't on a road trip.

My feet don't touch the floor when I sit in those chairs so after about an hour I'm squirming. Jay brought me a footstool once, I think it was a toolbox, but it worked.

Miss Calico (age 15) is having a hard time jumping on our bed and it's low. I need to make her a little footstool and I could take the footstool to the meetings. Last night Miss Calico was laying next to Bob while he was reading and petting her. She turned and fell off the bed. Life can sometimes be not easy for even the most pampered cat. She's not the smartest, or sweetest, but she is demanding and pretty. Gives her that great personality. Better get busy with the footstool before she sucks out my breath while I'm sleeping, little precious. I'll try to get a picture of our little darling for you.

March Garden Club meeting

March Forest Hills Garden Club meeting was at Mary Ehrenberger's home. I had a Texas Sculpture Association board meeting the same night so I only dropped in for a minute to see her lovely home and yard. Her yard will be featured on the May 18th Garden Tour and by the time the date rolls around her plants will be flourishing. Here's a "before" picture of her back yard with her husband John and son Jonathan in front her greenhouse. I'll be sure and post "after" pictures on the day of the tour.

Hello East Dallas Art Gardens

What am I doing starting a blog about gardens with art in East Dallas?  Art in the garden is where I want to be now.  This welded steel and fused glass "butterfly leaf" I made last fall for display at the State Fair of Texas is now on display at the Dallas Arboretum.  The Texas Sculpture Association is celebrating it's 25th anniversary and the board was asked to find venues for the members to show this year.  I asked the Arboretum if they would allow us to come in and display our art.  My wonderful Partner In Art, Cynthia and I got it together and with the help of Nan Phillips, the President and Brenda Guyton, our webmaster.  Brenda sent out a "call to artists" and we installed  twenty TSA artists and their sculptures Saturday and Sunday March 1st and 2nd.  The art is on a pathway leading to the old main gate and looks incredible in the Arboretum gardens.  I'm hoping the Arboretum,  www.dallasarboretum.org/ will spotlight us in future publicity.  We will be there six weeks and then begin another rotation.  Check out the www.txssculpture.com website for pictures of all the pieces and my website, www.lottieminick.com for more of my pieces.
