more White Rock Lake Artist Studio Tour pictures

Today was takeout for the State Fair.  I took some pictures, but I can't find my camera.  Here's some continuing Tour pictures.  Top picture is Lynn and Cissy.  I know Cissy doesn't understand why I continue to misspell her name.  I must tell her someday I have a friend who's real name is Cissy.  My other Cissy couldn't decide on a name for her daughter, so on the daughter's birth certificate the name is No Name.  We call her Noni.  I've always thought I'm the same size as (pictured) Cissy and want her clothes.  Finally, Lynn and Cissy convinced me we're not the same size.  I'm wondering where that puts me on Cissy's list of who gets her clothes.  Of course you remember my dear Lynne, my "good" son's godmother.   Next picture - the purple girls.  That's Kate, one of my most amazing artists at the Fair.  Last picture, Janice and Kathy.  I have a year to work on them for the Fair next year.

I must tell you for once our back yard looked nice.  After 15 years finally got it cleaned up a bit.  I can squint and pretend it's a lovely garden, with art mixed in.  Course you do have to squint.

Water Tower Theatre Show (metal chair)

Haven't mentioned the Water Tower Theatre Show.

The show began Saturyday, March 1 and finishes Sunday, April 27. The Water Tower Theatre is located at 15650 Addison Road, Addison, Texas 75001.

Delbert Beckham, the wonderful artist of big rusty flowers is there with several pieces. He also came through for me at the Arboretum show where he put in two great sculptures. Art Wells has a several pieces, too. Come by and see my two pieces and theirs before the show closes. The area is lovely and last time I stopped in the tulips were in full bloom.

Here's the two pieces I entered. Thru Chanels Roundly is a one of my favorites and The People's Chair is fun and surprisingly comfortable to sit in.

Garden Cafe art installation in East Dallas

Two weeks ago, we had an art installation at Dale Wootten's Garden Cafe on Junius Street. Vallery and I put in several pieces and Jessica and Mario came with one each. Even though Dale's garden is just beginning the sculptures look great. Dale is hosting an artist's reception for us and the photographer who is showing inside the cafe Thursday, March 27 at 6:00 pm. Dale's sent out lots of invitations and his cafe is so popular we are hoping for a great turnout for the reception. This show is another Texas Sculpture Association show. I put in a piece I had at the State Fair of Texas and they show much better against a fence as you can see. Join us for the Thursday reception or just come and have lunch in the garden.

Hello East Dallas Art Gardens

What am I doing starting a blog about gardens with art in East Dallas?  Art in the garden is where I want to be now.  This welded steel and fused glass "butterfly leaf" I made last fall for display at the State Fair of Texas is now on display at the Dallas Arboretum.  The Texas Sculpture Association is celebrating it's 25th anniversary and the board was asked to find venues for the members to show this year.  I asked the Arboretum if they would allow us to come in and display our art.  My wonderful Partner In Art, Cynthia and I got it together and with the help of Nan Phillips, the President and Brenda Guyton, our webmaster.  Brenda sent out a "call to artists" and we installed  twenty TSA artists and their sculptures Saturday and Sunday March 1st and 2nd.  The art is on a pathway leading to the old main gate and looks incredible in the Arboretum gardens.  I'm hoping the Arboretum,  www.dallasarboretum.org/ will spotlight us in future publicity.  We will be there six weeks and then begin another rotation.  Check out the www.txssculpture.com website for pictures of all the pieces and my website, www.lottieminick.com for more of my pieces.
