Garden Gallery juror at the Arboretum

This morning Jeff Levine met me at the Arboretum. Joy had the Garden Gallery submissions laid out beautifully and Jeff's jury sheet ready. Jeff went on and on about the quality of the work. Joy left him alone, but I followed like a puppy to learn more. Hopefully, Jeff will mention Garden Gallery and Artscape in his very popular website ModernDallas.net. Check out his website. I love the real estate section with the fabulous modern houses.

Garden Gallery will be on display during Artscape at the Arboretum March 20 and 21. Ninety artist have been juried in for Artscape in the garden during Dallas Blooms. Don't miss this incredible art show. I'm sure you have this inked on your day planner and reminders set on your computer. There's a meeting tonight at Juli and Doug's. I'll tell report after.

And of course, the always, ever popular, voted best garden and artists' tour in the whole wide world - White Rock East Garden & Artisans' Tour, May 23.

Southern Artisans Market at the Arboretum this weekend

Dreary wet weather (I personally love it) but not the best for an art show or fall festival. But the Southern Artisans Market went off without a hitch at the Dallas Arboretum this weekend. And I can tell you why. Joy and all the wonderful people who worked this weekend. My job as show chair was to schmooze with the artists. Every single one of them complimented Joy and the staff. They told me again and again, no other venue treats the artists like the folks at the Arboretum. And they were quality artists with wonderful pieces.

I don't know whether Joy reminds everyone or they just sense it, but they all seem to understand I live in LottieWorld and they let me think the Arboretum's mine and I can play ultimate hostess to my heart's content.

You know I've been the Arboretum liaison for Forest Hills so long, if they ever took my board position away from me, I'd be crushed. Who said some board positions aren't for a lifetime? I didn't get invited to the Oprah show at the State Fair, (I am crushed) but hey, I had a great weekend at the Arboretum.

Lumbie Mlambo, owner/publisher of Equanimity Magazine, shown pictured with Joy came out today. She loved the Arboretum and the art show. She's going to let me write a column "Spotlight on Artist" and of course I'll be writing about the Southern Artisans Market and in a few months Artscape at the Arboretum.

More garden girls at the Fair

Here's some more garden girls pictures. I just ran home for a while from Southern Artisans Market at the Dallas Arboretum. People are starting to pour in. Of course I forgot my camera, so will get lost of pictures when I got back, if I remember the camera. Can't tell you how nice all the artists are selling quality art. Really a good show. Pictures next time, really.

More Fall Festival pictures

Welded a bit today just messing around and realized I needed to go metal shopping.  Down to American Metal to look pieces to make another of the commission dining room chairs.  Found some cool stuff and then was digging around and found some cut out pieces I thing will be the chair after this one.  Not as good as when Cynthia and I go to Gold Metal and it's like Christmas, but still quite a find. 

The welding teacher from Booker T was there.  For some reason the boys at American Metal made us wear the construction hats and vests so we were talking about that and struck up a conversation. Later that day I had an Arboretum Artscape meeting.  I was telling them about the teacher at Booker T. and suggested we could maybe do a courtesy rate for a booth for some of her students.  Larry suggested we comp them.  We decided we could even get them a demonstration area.  We will work all that out after I contact her.  Would never have thought of it if I hadn't run into her.  Next time I'll take my camera.  I look so ridiculous in the hat and vest it's worth a picture.  

After the Artscape meeting I met Bob at Dickey's for a quick bite.  Andie joined us.  Then we left Bob and joined the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association Board members for a meeting.  Two 2 hour meetings are a bit much for me. Starting to fade real fast in the second meeting.
