Jewett EDC outdoor sculpture show

Really exciting new. Terry Jones' Jewett EDC outdoor sculpture show in Jewett, Texas is juried and about to be installed. Terry invited me to enter and with all that's going on I wouldn't have except he has been so faithful bringing incredible pieces to my Friends of Lottie Sculpture Show at the State Fair. So because of Terry I entered. They juried 12 pieces in and I was accepted. Jetett EDC awarded $500 to each accepted, plus a complimentary one night stay at the Executive Inn & Suites on Main Street. Now that's the way to put on an art show. Delbert Beckman (also one of my faithful State Fair artists) was accepted and graciously offered to take my piece when he goes to install. More graciousness, Terry is going to install the piece on the 4 foot slab he probably built. I blew out some holes in the base today for his bolts. How about Delbert and Terry taking care of me? Seriously good people. I appreciate them.
More information as the show unfolds.

More cutie pies in the parade

We're hoping to have my pictures along with other neighbors pictures on the Forest Hills website soon. Keep clicking on: www.foresthillsdallas.org and find you or your neighbor's picture. Here's another sneak preview.

PS - all our computers are working and have been for a couple of days. No more whining, I promise.

Garden Tour and State Fair artists

Today the Discovery Garden's administrator at Fair Park, Melissa, gave me a tour of the Butterfly House and offered the facility for more places for sculptures during the State Fair of Texas. Several of our Garden Tour artists are also my State Fair artists. What a great time for you to get a preview of their work.

Look for sisters Elizabeth Bingham and Lynn Reagan, Cynthia Daniel, Andie Comini and our tour art czar Betsy Doan in the gardens during the tour. Me, too, if I can inspire my welder to get moving. I'll post which garden each artist will be showing in when we get closer to tour time.

Visit the White Rock Lake Garden & Artisans' Tour Sunday, May 23, from 11:00 to 5:00.

Check my web site: www.lottieminick.com for a big map of the gardens in the 3 neighborhoods.

New Year's Resolutions, already broken

Oops! Already I missed a day posting, though my resolution was to post daily. I can quit completely or just try to catch up. Kinda like trying to keep up with how much metal's in the back yard, never happen. I'll just keep buying more and be delightfully surprised that I already had what I just bought.

Again with the Christmas party pictures - be prepared because there's more to come. I know I didn't take pictures of a lot of people, especially late comers. I have a short attention span and that includes picture taking.

Missed Becky's party last night at the CAC. Next Saturday is the general meeting for TSA, so I'll have to miss seeing Mother and going on to Billy Bob's. Can't miss two Saturdays in a row. I'm sure they all had a great time. I certainly would have. To think I use to be THE Party Diva at CAC. What's happened?

Mom was doing good, enjoying the little flat screen TV over the foot of her bed we gave her for Christmas. The remote is a bit hard for her, but then again, our living room TV is 15 years old and all the remotes to operate ours still confuse me. I've just learned to record through the cable box, but unfortunately there's nothing on TV to record. Except last night I did record this great program on channel 13 about movie people who fled Hitler's Germany; Billy Wilder, Marlene Dietrich, etc. Great show. Everyone once in a while.......

On to Billy Bob's, where Vicki and her toe were progressing nicely. Then she went to the regular bathroom at Billy Bob's. We have an employee bathroom, but it's further away. Some Amazon woman was walking in front of her and stepped back. You got it, right on poor Vicki's much operated on toe. She said the pain was incredible. Said the woman felt terrible. Well, I guess next manager meeting I should suggest we stop letting Amazon women in the club. Doubt if I'll get anyone but Vicki on my side with that one. Well, I'm sure Pam would support us, but again, way to outnumbered. Even with a 4 inch rod connected to a steel ball at the end of her toe, Vicki's still the best thing to happen to Bob and me, the manager we always dreamed of. All night I was scared to death I'd be the next person to step on her foot - I'm such a clutzy person.

Our darling son did not complain when I reminded him to write thank you notes to everyone at Billy Bob's who bought him Christmas gifts. These same delightful people haven't seen him in years, but never forget him. I read his note to Vicki. Something about a thank you for the Starbucks card so he could OD on coffee and write the best references papers of his life. What a darling boy. Dare I say though we enjoyed having him around, I wasn't in tears when he went back to college?

Note! Goal for tomorrow, remember to post.

Billy Bob's Texas Bull Rider Derby, my very favorite game in the whole wide word

Here's my first video.  Wonder if it will work this time.  I'm playing Bull Rider Derby at Billy Bob's Texas with my Casino Crew.  Should have worn my Tiara instead of a chicken hat with weird glasses.  I am the Casino Princess after all.

One Last Halloween Picture

Who can resist one last picture of the "odd" Fairy Princess at Lynn's party?  Susan sent this on Flickr and I want her to teach me how.  Note the jewelry.  No one sparkled like the "odd" Fairy Princess at this party.  But then again when don't I sparkle???  Only when covered with welding slag.

Bob and I went to Art With A Cause tonight at the bank building at Peak and Swiss.  Went to support Jay and was glad to see the Huntoons and others we know.  Cynthia got there about the time we did so saw her, too.  Couldn't stay.  We were late going to see Mother and on to Billy Bob's.

Mom was really doing well.  I asked her if she knew what today was.  For someone with dimensia who is usually confused, she said, "My Mother's birthday, All Saints Day."  Yes!!!Mom was Lottie Mae and Lottie Mae was my Mother tonight.  What a treat for me and Bob.  I asked her why Texans don't celebrate Maw Maw's birthday with All Saints Day and the painting of the graves.  She said they certainly should.  What a special gift for me when my real Mom is there like tonight.

Billy Bob's VERY slow.  I guess after Willie Nelson last week this was to be expected.  We had the Nashville Stars (tv contest).  I admit I don't have a clue about Nashville Stars.

I got to thank my wonderful ladies, Vicki, Pat and Geana, for my birthday gift - a gift certificate to Home Depot, my favorite store.  They gave Bob gift certificates to restaurants (his birthday is exactly 7 days after mine).  They are the greatest and we love our gifts.  They make it fun for us to be there every Saturday night.  Vicki didn't remind me her step-mother, Sarah, whom I adore had a birthday yesterday.  Sarah also got me a gift certificate at Home Depot and I forgot her birthday.  Shame, shame on me.

Did get to leave early since it was slow.   We went to IHOP on the way home.  Should have gone after Lynn's party last night so the ladies who work there could have seen me in my "odd" Fair Princess costume.  They would have thought I looked FABULOUS, too.

Billy Bob's Texas Casino Crew

Here's my Casino crew.  Vicki, Pat, me and Geana standing in the Bull Rider Derby, my very favorite game in the whole wide world.  For a mere 50 cents you roll your ball and your bull goes across to race for first place.  First bull across wins solid gold colored Billy Bob's Casino token.  Four players wins one token, five to seven wins two tokens and eight to ten wins three tokens.  The tokens are worth 20 point to redeem at the gift counter for FABULOUS prizes.  I personally wear the "Casino Princess" diamond tiara to prove the fabulosity.

Vicki, Pat and Gena are the best.  And I realize how lucky I am they are in my life.
